Moving day is looming and you can’t put the packing off any longer. Have you got enough boxes? How will you pack those family heir looms? Think ahead and reduce the potential for disaster on moving day.
Always use strong reliable boxes
Don’t get caught out using cheap flimsy boxes for packing up your household items. The last thing you need when moving house, is the added stress of boxes buckling or breaking and worse still your items being scattered over the street or driveway.
Second hand boxes can have their problems too, if they have been previously used for food items, they could leave an unwanted smell on your contents.
You can only buy brand new boxes from us , and they all come with a double wall guarantee. Our packing boxes are double wall and designed for stacking, storing and moving your belongings from house to house.
Even though our boxes are strong, be careful not to pack them so that they are too heavy to lift safely. Always use the smaller boxes for heavy items like crockery or books and the larger boxes for items such as linen, cushions or soft toys.
Make sure you have enough boxes
It’s so easy to underestimate the number of boxes you’re going to need for your house move. We have put some moving house starter kits together for you as a guide, but we also sell lots of top of packs of differently sized boxes. Best of all, we will deliver to you on the next working day.
Use the right packing materials
It’s not just boxes you need when moving house, you will no doubt have valuable or delicate items that need that little extra protection. In our moving kits we include bubble rolls, perfect for wrapping and protecting most items before they get packed into the box.
You can also buy tape printed with the words ‘Fragile’, which you can use over any box with fragile contents, just to remind everyone to be careful!
Properly seal your boxes
Yes, that does sound obvious, but you will be surprised at the number of people who just fold the bottom of the box flaps together. All that’s going to happen when the box is lifted with any weight inside, will be the bottom flaps unfolding and your contents falling out!
Packing boxes are so much more secure when the top and bottom flaps are taped closed. Not only does taping the boxes make them stronger, it will also make sure no dust or dirt will fall into your box when storing or moving it from A to B.
We include packing tape in our kits, but you can also buy extra rolls if required.
Label your boxes
Again, sounds simple enough, but in the last-minute rush to get packed, you can easily start chucking your things into boxes and not writing on them what room they need to go into. When you get to the other end, you will be so glad you spent the time doing this when packing.
If your any of your items are going into storage, you could go one step further and attach a piece of paper to the front of the box with a list of contents.
We include a marker pen with our moving kits, but these can also be purchased separately if needed.
Pack an Essentials Box
It’s a great idea to pack and label a box with your essentials, things like tea, coffee, mugs and your kettle!
